A 1:50 scale wooden model kit — the legendary Viking Drakkar, terror of the northern seas, built by your own hands.

This 1:50 scale kit faithfully reproduces the iconic Viking longship: a sleek, low-profile hull with upswept dragon prow and stern, rows of decorative round shields along the gunwales, a single square sail with rope rigging, and a wooden display stand. At 45 cm finished length, this is a rewarding build that captures the raw power and elegance of the Norse seafarers who once ruled the northern seas.

Histoire et récit

The Viking longship — known as the Drakkar or dragon ship — was the most feared vessel of the Viking Age, prowling the coasts of Europe from the 8th to the 11th century. Long, narrow, and shallow-drafted, these ships could navigate open ocean and river alike, carrying Norse warriors on raids, trading voyages, and expeditions of exploration that reached as far as North America.

Designed according to the ancient Norse wooden sailing ship tradition, the Drakkar features a wide, flat hull with sharply upswept bow and stern, a row of round shields along each side, and a single square sail. The Vikings used these ships from the 5th to the 9th century to master the seas, occupying islands across the North Atlantic including the British Isles, and crossing the Atlantic over 1,000 years ago to reach Greenland and North America. The Oslo Maritime Museum holds an original Viking ship in its collection.

This 1:50 scale model kit pays tribute to that legacy — a precise and evocative build for collectors and history enthusiasts alike.
