Viking Longship Model — Drakkar with Dragon Prow & Striped Sail

This is not a toy. It is a Viking longship model — a recreation of the legendary drakkar that carried Norse warriors across the North Atlantic, rendered in striking detail with a carved dragon prow, coloured shield rail, and a bold red-and-white striped sail.

The Viking longship was the most advanced vessel of its age. Shallow-drafted enough to navigate rivers, yet seaworthy enough to cross open ocean, the drakkar gave the Norse world its reach — from Scandinavia to Newfoundland, from the British Isles to the Mediterranean. The dragon figurehead was not decoration. It was a warning.

This model captures that presence: the low, sweeping hull, the ranked shields along the gunwale, the single mast and square sail rigged with cord stays. The dragon prow is cast with sharp detail. The red-and-white striped sail is fabric-finished and rigged under tension. Displayed on a desk or shelf, it commands attention in the way only a well-made object can.

The Materials

The hull and structural elements are cast in high-density resin with a hand-applied finish that replicates aged timber grain. The sail is fabric, rigged with cord stays. The shield rail features individually painted shields in alternating red and blue — a detail drawn from historical Norse ship imagery. The finish is durable and suited to long-term display without special maintenance.

Who This Is For

The Viking longship is one of the most recognizable vessels in Western maritime history — a silhouette that needs no introduction. It suits a home library, a study, an executive desk, or any space where the owner wants an object with genuine historical presence and visual impact.

As a gift, it is well-suited to the history enthusiast, the traveller, the collector of maritime objects, or anyone who wants to give something that carries a story — not just a shape.

Display & Care

Place away from direct sunlight and high-humidity environments. Dust occasionally with a soft dry cloth or brush, taking care around the sail and rigging. The resin finish is stable and does not require oiling or special treatment.

Each model is individually finished. Minor variations in paint application and sail positioning are normal and are not defects.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the model fragile?

The hull and structural elements are cast in high-density resin and are robust for display purposes. The sail and cord rigging are more delicate — handle with care and avoid pulling on the rigging lines.

Does it require assembly?

No. The model arrives fully assembled and display-ready.

Can I request specific details?

This model is a standard production piece and does not support custom modifications. If you are looking for a bespoke commission, please contact us directly.

Is each model exactly the same?

Minor variations in paint finish and sail positioning may occur between individual pieces. These are normal characteristics of hand-finished production and are not defects.

What makes this different from a model kit?

This is a fully assembled, display-ready model — no building, gluing, or painting required. It is designed for collectors and gift-givers who want the finished object, not the construction process.
