HISTORY & STORY

The San Felipe is one of the most celebrated subjects in wooden ship modelling — a richly ornamented Spanish warship representing the grand galleon tradition of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. With her towering three-masted silhouette, elaborately gilded stern carvings, rows of cannon ports, and billowing fabric sails, she embodies the visual splendour and naval ambition of the Spanish Empire at its height.

The Spanish galleon was the dominant warship of the Age of Exploration — carrying treasure from the New World and projecting Spanish power across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans for over a century. This model captures that tradition in a form designed to be built and displayed: a centrepiece with genuine historical presence.
