A Mediterranean working boat rendered in three premium woods — the Naxos captures the workaday character of the Aegean fishing fleet with white-painted topsides, a teak deck, and every fitting in place.

This static display version of the Naxos builds at 1:50 scale to a finished size of 32.8 cm L × 9.7 cm W × 26.2 cm H. The hull planking uses basswood for the structural frames, sapele for the outer strakes, and teak for the deck — three woods that work together to produce a model of real material warmth. The superstructure, mast, rigging, railings, and deck fittings (winches, life rings, exhaust stacks) are all included and rendered in accurate detail.

🔧 This is a model kit — assembly, planking, painting, and rigging required. Tools, adhesives, and paints are not included and must be sourced separately.

⚠️ Skill level: Intermediate. Some model-building experience recommended. Please review the instruction manual before beginning assembly.

Naxos is the largest island of the Greek Cyclades and one of the Aegean’s oldest centres of maritime activity. The working fishing boats of the Aegean — sturdy, practical, and built for the particular conditions of the eastern Mediterranean — have changed little in their essential character over generations: a beamy hull for stability in short seas, a sheltered wheelhouse, a derrick mast for handling nets and catch, and a hull painted in the vivid colours that make Greek fishing harbours among the most photographed working environments in the world.

The Naxos model captures this tradition in miniature — a record of a working vessel type that is slowly disappearing from the harbours it once defined.
