Sweden’s legendary East Indiaman — the Gothenburg, captured in miniature inside a hand-blown glass bottle.

This elegant ship in a bottle features a detailed replica of the Gothenburg (Götheborg) — the famous 18th-century Swedish East India Company frigate — complete with cream-colored sails and Swedish blue-and-yellow pennants, set inside a hand-blown clear glass bottle sealed with a natural cork stopper and red wax seal. Mounted on a warm wooden display stand with a brass nameplate, it makes a refined gift for history enthusiasts, Scandinavian heritage collectors, and nautical decor lovers.

⚠️ Hand-blown glass — minor bubbles or surface variations are a natural characteristic of artisan glasswork.

HISTORY & STORY

The Götheborg (Gothenburg) was an 18th-century Swedish East Indiaman that sailed three successful voyages between Sweden and China for the Swedish East India Company. On her third return voyage in 1745, she sank just outside the harbor of Gothenburg — within sight of home — in circumstances that remain debated to this day.

A full-scale replica was built and launched in 2003, completing a historic voyage to China and back between 2005 and 2007. She stands today as a proud symbol of Swedish maritime heritage — now preserved in miniature, sealed in glass, and ready for your collection.
