Four masts, full sail, rounding Cape Horn — the Passat, the last of the great Flying P-Liners, sealed in glass.

A hand-painted miniature of the legendary German four-masted barque Passat, complete with white sails, red pennant flags, detailed rigging, and a painted blue ocean base, sealed inside a hand-blown clear glass bottle with a red wax-sealed cork stopper. Mounted on a deep mahogany display stand with a Passat nameplate. Made in our Zhoushan workshop, founded in 1980.

التاريخ والقصة

The Passat was one of the most celebrated sailing ships of the 20th century — a four-masted steel barque built in Hamburg in 1911 by Blohm & Voss for the renowned shipping company F. Laeisz. She was one of the famous Flying P-Liners, a fleet of fast cargo sailing ships whose names all began with the letter P: Preussen, Potosi, Peking, Pamir, and Passat among them.

The Flying P-Liners were the last great commercial sailing ships, built to carry nitrate from Chile around Cape Horn to Europe in an era when steam was already dominant. They were chosen for their speed and their ability to handle the brutal conditions of the Southern Ocean. The Passat made numerous Cape Horn passages, surviving storms that would have destroyed lesser ships.

Today the Passat is preserved as a museum ship in Travemünde, Germany — a monument to the final age of working sail. This ship in a bottle captures her under full canvas, sails white against the sky, as she appeared in her glory days on the open ocean. Handcrafted in Ocean Relic Studio’s Zhoushan workshop, where artisans have been shaping maritime heritage into lasting objects since 1980.
