This is not a replica. It is a fortune ship — a hand-carved rosewood Fu Chuan junk model made to order in the Ocean Relic Studio workshop in Zhoushan, Zhejiang.

福船 — the Fortune Ship. The Fu Chuan was one of the most capable ocean-going vessels in Chinese maritime history: a deep V-shaped hull that handled open-sea swells, a high stern that gave the helmsman command over the deck, and a three-mast rig that carried Zheng He’s treasure fleets across the Indian Ocean in the early fifteenth century. The name carries a second meaning beyond the vessel type — fortune, prosperity, a favorable wind — and for centuries this model has been displayed in homes and offices as an auspicious object. Our craftsmen grew up on an island where this tradition was still alive, inheriting the form from a living maritime environment. Every element is carved and assembled by hand in our Zhoushan workshop, founded in 1980: the hull planking, the three-mast rigging, the deck fittings, the carved bow detail.
