This is not a souvenir. It is a hand-lacquered Chinese trading junk model made to order in the Ocean Relic Studio workshop in Zhoushan, Zhejiang.

The Chinese trading junk was the workhorse of maritime commerce across the South China Sea and beyond — its bold red-lacquered hull, three-mast battened rig, and high stern immediately recognizable in any port. This model captures that legacy in miniature: the red and black lacquered hull with green accent stripe, deep red battened sails, carved wave display base, and hand-assembled deck fittings and rigging — each element made by hand in our Zhoushan workshop, founded in 1980 by the father of our master craftsman.
